Video Rentals - What's HOT!

New movies out in August include:

Reindeer Games - One of Hollywood's best directors, John Frankenheimer, tries his best as Ben Affleck plays an ex-con who impersonates his dead ex-cellmate to meet the man's sensual pen pal (Charlize Theron). The movie is fast paced but comes up a bit weak (due mostly to Affleck). Not bad but not good either.

I Dreamed of Africa - Kim Basinger runs around some beautiful scenery in this Out of Africa type movie. Kim is always interesting to watch but the movie is a bit hollow.

Erin Brockovich - Based on a true story of an undereducated single mom and legal secretary who brought a town-polluting power company to its knees. Julia Roberts does a great job as the twice divorced mother of three children who sees an injustice and takes on the bad guys. A good movie.

Romeo Must Die - Martial-arts superstar Jet Li stars in this modern day USA based remake of the Shakespeare classic. Li is great for those who like martial arts, the story is pretty weak.

The Next Best Thing - Madonna continues to self-destruct as she plays a yoga instructor who conceives a child with a gay best friend only to battle him in the courts latter. Not worth the time or the money.

Whatever It Takes - A classic story in which boy tries to romance the wrong girl only to learn whom he should really be trying to impress. The movie impressed no one, why waste your time?

Jesus - Actually, came out last month but worth mentioning. This is a recording of the TV series that focuses on Christ's humanity as well as his divinity and is surprisingly good.

Sixth Sense - Also came out last month but has to be mentioned. The story follows a 9-year old child who sees dead people. Bruce Willis plays the psychologist who tries to help him. A really good movie and highly recommended.

Get Real - The story about a student at a British school who knows he's gay, and is pretty comfortable being so. Don't even think about it - watch reruns of the X files before you spend your time on this stinker.

Terror by Night - A new release of Basil Rathbone playing Sherlock Holmes. Watch it and enjoy.
